Pineapple House is nestled on a hillside, above English Harbour, behind the Antigua Yacht Club yacht docks. Hand-laid stone walkways climb the hillside to each of the 10 cottages, passing through a lush tropic garden, with flowering plants and fruit trees. Each cottage has an unobstructed view of the Bay, Harbour and and the hills beyond.
Each of these 10 traditional West Indian cottages is unique in design and decore, some with original art from Bali, the West Indies and Paris. Each cottage comes with a single bedroom, a king-size bed and sitting area and often an open porch to sit over morning coffee and watch the yachts come and go in the harbor below. All connected by hand-laid stone walkways.
These cottages have provided Libby Nicholson with blank canvases on which to practice her art of color and texture, which she calls West Indian cottage chic. Libby uses fabrics to replace doors and windows. Bed covers are colorful hand-made tapestry, each unique. Books, pottery, carvings, shells and things Libby has collected in her world travels occupy shelves, adding splashes of color. Fresh flowers besides the sinks in the modest bathrooms give the place a lived in, homelike atmosphere. Libby loves pillows and scatters then about, providing comfort and splashes of color, all set against white-wash walls and ceilings.
Pigeon Point Beach is five minutes away with two beach bars. Nelson's Dockyard is a five-minute walk in the other direction. Open from late October to May annually.
Guests are invited to share sundowners with Libby in the main house lounge each evening. Located nearby you'll fine French and Italian restaurants, night life, beaches, beach bars, yachts, and Nelson's Dockyard.
