Interviews and Conversation
The Voice. I had my first radio show at the age of 14. It was a Saturday morning Top Ten high school show on WARE-1230 AM in Ware, Massachusetts. I worked in radio for ten years, producing folk, jazz and classical music programs in Boston at WBCN; a ski report show on WCRB, host a morning radio show, 7 to 9 AM, on WTBU at Boston University.
I had a Friday evening folk music radio show: From The Village Green, in the early 1960s--just when folk music was emerging as popular music. That gig led to my managing the Unicorn Coffee House, and in 1963, I built and ran the Moon ‘Cusser Coffee House on Martha’s Vineyard . . . The Moon ‘Cusser became a mecca for the 60s folk revival. I was the first person to pay James Taylor to sing on Monday evenings at our Hootenanny.
I still enjoy using my voice, talking in various dialects, and interviewing people. I’ll do more in the coming week, and see what I can find in my archives.
